Secure connectivity between devices and cloud

For an automotive client, I worked on a mesh network connecting devices and cloud services. My work covered routing, load balancing and mutual authentication between participants.

01Challenge

Connect devices to each other and to cloud services, while planning for individual network nodes to fail.

02My contribution

I worked on network architecture and administration, including routing, load balancing, mTLS and the development and test environment.

03Outcome

A distributed network architecture connects devices and cloud services through mutually authenticated connections.

Connecting devices to each other and the cloud

The project required devices to communicate with each other and with cloud services. The architecture also had to account for what would happen if individual network nodes failed.

I worked on planning and administering the network.

Routing, authentication and testing

The implementation used OpenZiti, Kubernetes and Docker. It included routing, load balancing and mutual TLS authentication, also known as mTLS.

An internal network environment supported development and testing. The client and the exact network topology remain confidential.
